#24 Brandeis Bests Women's Tennis, 7-2

Brazell, Cooke win singles matchups for Lyons

NORTON, Mass. – The Wheaton College women's tennis team was dealt a 7-2 loss by No. 24 ranked Brandeis University on Thursday evening in a non-conference matchup at the Clark Tennis Courts.

Senior co-captain Lyndsay Cooke (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield Christian) picked up a hard-fought 6-3, 7-5 victory over Brandeis senior Allyson Bernstein (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) at No. 2 singles.

Freshman Amanda Brazell (Las Vegas, Nev./The Meadows School) earned the Lyons only other win on the evening as she defeated Robert Bergstein (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) by a 7-5, 6-1 scored at No. 3 singles.

Earlier in the match, No. 1 and No. 2 doubles were tightly contested but the Judges ultimately came away with 8-6 triumphs at both positions over the Lyons.

Wheaton (12-4) hosts Colby-Sawyer this Saturday at 12 p.m. for a non-conference tilt at the Clark Tennis Courts. No. 24 Brandeis (7-8) hosts Bentley University tomorrow at 3 p.m.
