Lyons to host Babson next Tuesday at 4 p.m.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Wheaton College women's tennis team lost 9-0 to No. 13 MIT in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Saturday afternoon.
Senior captain Alexandra Marlowe (Mesa, Ariz./Mountain View) played the closest match of the afternoon, but eventually fell to MIT sophomore Elysa Kohrs (Half Moon Bay, Calif./ Sacred Heart Prep) by a 5-7, 6-4, 10-3 score at No. 1 singles. Amanda Brazell (Las Vegas, Nev./The Meadows School) and Stassy Furber (Montpelier, Vt./Montpelier) won one set apiece against MIT at No. 2 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
Furber and Caroline Stanclift (Camden, Maine/Cushing Academy) were also able to grab two sets from MIT at No. 3 doubles in an 8-2 loss to the pairing of Michelle Dutt (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) and Jae Hyun Kim (Seoul, South Korea/Seoul Foreign School).
Wheaton (4-4, 4-2 NEWMAC) hosts Babson College on Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m. on the Clark Tennis Courts, while MIT travels to Tufts University on October 8 at 4 p.m. for a match with the Jumbos.
