Lyons fall to 4-3 overall on the season, 4-1 in conference play
NORTON, Mass. – The Wheaton College women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Wellesley College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Friday evening.
The Lyons, who also were handed their first conference loss of the season, were swept in straight sets in all three doubles matches to begin the NEWMAC clash.
Wheaton senior Alexandra Marlowe (Mesa, Ariz./Mountain View) played well despite her 6-4, 6-4 loss at No. 1 singles, while sophomore Amanda Brazell (Las Vegas, Nev./The Meadows School) was turned away 7-6, 6-3 in a hard-fought match at the No. 2 position. The Blue went on to win the remaining four singles matches in the contest only conceding four sets in the entire grouping.
Wheaton (4-3, 4-1 NEWMAC) travels to MIT tomorrow for a conference matchup at 1 p.m. Wellesley (5-2, 4-1 NEWMAC) hosts Babson tomorrow at 10 a.m.
