Amick named Most Outstanding Player of the tournament

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Wheaton College women's soccer team captured its second Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament crown in program history defeating Albertus Magnus, 1-0, at Celentano Field.

Lyons' sophomore Tess Weyburne (Maynard, Mass./Maynard) delivered the game-winning goal in the 14th minute beating Falcons' sophomore goalkeeper Maria Case (West Haven, Conn./West Haven) on a breakaway bid after receiving a through ball from classmate Cat Amick (Vashon, Wash./Vashon Island) for her second goal of the season.

At the conclusion of the game, Amick was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player for compiling eight points on three goals and two assists in three games played.

Wheaton's defense clamped down for the remainder of the contest to secure its 14th shutout of the year which ranks tied for ninth all-time in a single season. Sophomore goalkeeper Ali Hinton (Lafayette, Colo./Alexander Dawson School) stopped five shots in the win, while Case recorded seven saves in the loss for Albertus Magnus.

The Lyons outshot the Falcons 18-11 including an 11-7 differential in the second half. Albertus Magnus held a 6-4 advantage in corners, all coming in the final stanza.
