BANGOR, Maine- Wheaton College sophomore Lauren Corigliano (Roselle Park, N.J/Roselle Park) produced a season-high five points, on two goals and an assist, and the nationally-ranked women's soccer team pitched its second-straight shutout as the Lyons defeated Husson University 3-0 this afternoon in a non-conference match.

Wheaton, ranked No. 23 in the country and fourth in New England by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), registered its ninth consecutive victory over Husson to raise its overall record to 5-0-1. The Eagles suffered their seventh loss in their past eight matches.

The Lyons cracked the scoring column in the third minute, when senior Tara Caney (West Springfield, Mass./West Springfield) recorded her first marker of the season off a feed from Corigliano. Corigliano provided the visitors with a pair of insurance goals in the 32nd and 39th minute of the first frame, respectively. The native of Roselle Park, N.J. has registered at least one point in her past four matches.

The Wheaton defensive unit made sure the early three-goal advantage stood up, limiting Husson to a total of three shots. The Lyons have held their opponents scoreless for the past 182 minutes and 43 seconds, a streak that began against Williams on Sept. 9.   

Wheaton freshman goalkeeper Taylor Wilson (Bellingham, Mass./Bellingham) was not tested in her 66 minutes, 23 seconds of action, while classmate Alli Hinton (Lafayette, Colo./Alexander Dawson School) played the remaining 23 minutes and 37 seconds of the match. Eagles' netminder Jessica Poulin was credited with 14 saves.

The Lyons return to action at 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 19, when Wheaton hosts Tufts University in a non-conference match.
