BRISTOL, R.I.- In a game that featured a pair of 2011 NCAA Tournament teams, the Wheaton College women's soccer squad held a 1-0 lead until early in the second half, when host Roger Williams University drew even in a game that eventually went two overtimes and ended in a tie during each team's season opener on Friday.

The Lyons, who are receiving national votes in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) preseason poll, are now 4-0-1 against the Hawks in their last five season openers.

Today's was at a stalemate until the 35th minute, when Wheaton sophomore Laila Razzaghi (Ringoes, N.J./Princeton Day School) connected with freshman Cat Amick (Vashon, Wash./Vashon Island) on a corner kick.  Razzaghi sent her corner kick from the left side that found the foot of Amick for the finish.

Trailing 1-0 at the half, Roger Williams needed a little over three minutes of the second frame to knot the game.  Sophomore Kristen Tetreault (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) carried the ball down the right side of the field and directed her shot into the left corner of the net for the equalizer.

Wheaton freshman goalie Taylor Wilson (Bellingham, Mass./Bellingham) kept the Hawks off the board the rest of the way, including making a diving stop in the 78th minute to help preserve the tie.

After neither squad managed a shot in the first overtime, the second extra session saw the Lyons take three, but junior goalie Stephanie Jaques (Burlington, Vt./Burlington) stopped the first two attempts and Wheaton's third sailed wide.

Wilson made four stops in her collegiate debut, while Jaques finished the afternoon with eight saves.  The Lyons held advantages of 18-12 in shots and 5-3 in corner kicks.

Wheaton remains on the road on Sunday in a non-conference contest against Worcester State University at 1:00 p.m.
