NORTON, Mass. - The Wheaton College women's tennis team won its top four singles matches to defeat Endicott College 6-3 in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon at the Clark Tennis Courts.
Sophomore Lyndsay Cooke (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield Christian) was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at No. 1 singles over senior Katie Cioffi (Essex, Vt./Essex). Freshman Alexandra Marlowe (Mesa, Ariz./Mountain View) scored a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles over freshman Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass./Old Rochester).
At No. 3 singles, sophomore Morgan Bell (Gloucester, Mass./Pingree School) posted a 6-4, 6-2 win over senior Emily Annis (Hampton, N.H./St. Thomas Aquinas). Classmate Sarah Crom (Bremen, Germany/International School of Bremen) upended freshman Natalie Egbert (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
Endicott junior Gina Pinciaro (Beverly, Mass./Beverly) was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at No. 5 singles over sophomore Jessica Moore (Middletown, R.I./The Prout School). The Gulls took the No. 6 singles match behind freshman Chrissy Martel (Westbrook, Conn./Westbrook), who defeated freshman Kathryn Burleson (Osterville, Mass./Cape Cod Academy) 6-3, 6-3.
Cooke and Marlowe were 8-0 winners at No. 1 doubles over Cioffi and Annis while Bell and Crom knocked off Egbert and senior Laura MacLeod (Mashpee, Mass./Mashee) 8-3 at No. 2 doubles. Heacox and sophomore Emily Marcello (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) downed Burleson and Moore 8-1 at No. 3 singles.
Wheaton hosts Colby-Sawyer Sunday at 11 a.m. The Gulls face Gordon Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in Hamilton, Mass.
