completing the stretch by taking a 41-34 advantage on a Stehle
three with 16:09 remaining. MIT quickly crept back into the contest
with six straight points, but the Lyons later extended a 44-43 lead
thanks to a 21-9 run, pulling ahead by as many as 13 with freshman

free throws with 5:01 to go, but the Engineers trimmed their
deficit to 77-74 with 52 seconds remaining after Kates hit three
straight free throws due to consecutive Wheaton fouls. Two Leo free
throws at 50 ticks again made it a five-point game, but
Hollingsworth converted a three-point play with 36 seconds
remaining to produce a 79-77 margin. However, Wheaton salted the
game away from the line, going 5-of-6 on freebies in the final 32
seconds. Two Degnan free throws put the Lyons up 81-77, and Weeks
blocked an Engineer shot before a foul led to Stehle canning two
more free throws. A trio of MIT threes went off the mark in the
final 16 seconds, and Coppola completed the scoring with a
freebie.
Wheaton used a 9-0 run to grab a 14-6 advantage at 15:32 of the
