NORTON, MA- After playing a hand in both of the nationally-ranked Wheaton College women's soccer team's goals on Saturday, senior Lyndsey McManus (Marshfield, MA/Marshfield) provided two markers and two assists during the Lyons' 5-0 win over regionally-ranked Husson University on Sunday in Mirrione Stadium.

Wheaton, which is ranked 13th nationally and second in New England by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), improved to 9-1 thanks to its best offensive output of the season. The Eagles, ranked ninth in the region, slipped to 6-3.

McManus set a career high with six points while matching her personal-best goal and assist totals, as she last netted a pair of markers in the 2007 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament final. Senior Rosie Levy (Torrance, CA/Chadwick School) and freshmen Cassey Muse (Candia, NH/Central) and Brittany Odgers (Roseland, NJ/West Essex) also scored.

In net, sophomore Lindsay Leddy (Warwick, RI/Wheeler School) made two stops for the Lyons before giving way to classmate Erin Cawley (West Springfield, MA/West Springfield), who turned aside one Husson shot in a little more than 16 minutes. Junior Rozlyn Petersen (Newport, ME/Nokomis Regional) recorded 10 saves for the Eagles, including seven in the opening half, when Wheaton totaled a 16-1 advantage in shots.

The Blue and White broke on the board after just 10:09, when junior Christina Bertrand (Agawam, MA/Cathedral) touched the ball to McManus, who blasted a shot into the lower right corner of the net and past a diving Petersen. Soon after Petersen made a diving save to deny her header, McManus sent a breakout pass toward Odgers, who collected a mis-struck clearing attempt by a charging Petersen and scored from 20 yards out on an open net at 21:01.

Muse netted her team-leading ninth goal of the fall at 50:25, cutting to the net and tapping home a McManus cross, and Leddy kept the game scoreless by scooping away junior Megan LaJoie's (Van Buren, ME/Van Buren) header in the 52nd minute.

Late in the 60th minute, Lyon freshman Samantha Cronin's (Wethersfield, CT/Wethersfield) corner kick found McManus, who volleyed the ball into the upper left corner at 59:57 beyond Petersen and a defender. Levy found the back of the net at 67:03 after knocking down an attempted defensive clear in the box. Cawley preserved the shutout with 40 seconds remaining, moving to her right to deny LaJoie's shot.

The Lyons continue a three-game homestand by squaring off with Lesley University on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
