WELLESLEY, MA- The eighth-seeded Wheaton College field hockey team succumbed to four second-half goals during a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament first-round game at top seed Wellesley College on Saturday, as the Lyons saw their title quest come to an end at the hands of the Blue for the third straight season.

Wheaton finishes the year at 6-12, while Wellesley advances to the semifinal round to face five-time defending tournament champion Springfield College, which is the fourth seed.  The Blue, which has downed the Lyons in five of the past six postseasons, is 12-7.

Junior Margaux Bolte's (Belmont, MA/Belmont) 33rd-minute goal and senior goalie Andrea Bagley's (Foxboro, MA/Foxboro) eight first-half saves provided the Lyons with a 1-0 lead at the intermission, but the second stanza was a different story, as the Blue finished with four goals in a 24:07 span and a 14-4 advantage in shots to seal the win.

Bagley finished her career with 12 stops in the game, as Wellesley held advantages of 32-13 in shots and 10-5 in penalty corners.  Two of the Blue's tallies came off corners, as Wheaton had allowed just seven penalty-corner markers in 17 regular season games.  Wellesley junior goalkeeper Sarina Sawyer (Wilmette, IL/New Trier) accounted for nine saves.

Senior Callie Lekas (Brewster, MA/Bancroft School) scored twice for the Blue, while junior Kate Cushing (Danvers, MA/Pingree School) contributed a goal and an assist.  Senior Molly Morrow (Bow, NH/Bow) also scored.

Bagley turned aside six Wellesley shots in the early going before Bolte's blast from 10 yards out after faking a defender put the Lyons on the board just 2:21 before the break.  Bagley made a save at 37:34 of the second half, but the Blue knotted the contest 31 ticks later courtesy of a penalty corner.  Morrow posted Wellesley's game-winner at 49:59.
