Lok-Tin Yao begins his 12th season as an Assistant Coach at Wheaton College in 2022-23.

Before moving to the sideline at Wheaton, Yao began his collegiate coaching career under Wheaton Head Coach Craig Letourneau at Emerson College in 2010. He assisted with the overall coaching, supervision, recruiting process, and organization of the Emerson program. During his tenure, he saw three student-athletes garner conference player of the week honors and another receive Rookie of the Week accolades.

In 2011, Yao became a coach for both the MBSC Nike Volleyball Camp and Smash Volleyball.

A 2008 graduate of Mount Ida with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management, Yao was a Dean’s List student and also received the President’s Merit Scholarship. He was a two-year student-athlete for the Mustangs, where he was an outside hitter, middle hitter, and defensive specialist/libero.

Yao holds a National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Coaches Education Certification. He currently plays for both the Knights Outdoor 9-Man club volleyball team and also in the BSSC Amateur Volleyball League.
