Dan Acosta

Dan Acosta

Dan Acosta enters his third year with the Wheaton Men's Tennis team in 2022-23.

He served as the program's Interim Head Coach for the 2021 Fall season after holding the Assistant Coach post for the 2020-21 campaign. Acosta resumed his duties as an assistant for the 2022 Spring season.

Prior to his time at Wheaton, Acosta was a coach for the Saint Pius X High School Boys and Girls tennis teams in Albuquerque, N.M. for a span of seven years, serving primarily as the program's Head Coach. Under his tutelage the Girls team qualified for the State Championship for six consecutive seasons, while the Boys squad earned a spot in the State Championship tournament three years in a row. In his final season with Saint Pius, the Boys team boasted an undefeated record before COVID-19 ended the season prematurely. In addition to his time at the high school level, Acosta also coached tennis in the El Paso City Program in Texas for five years.

Acosta returns to the state where he attended college. A Harvard University graduate, Acosta was a decorated handball player at the prestigious Cambridge institution, placing second at the National Championship tournament as a senior. Following his graduation he took his skills to the Southwest, winning three National and 20 State crowns in New Mexico and Texas. In addition to his degree from Harvard, Acosta also graduated from the University of Texas School of Law and spent over 20 years as a practicing attorney.

His Daughter Alexis was a member of the Wheaton women's tennis team for four seasons before graduating in 2022.
