Miguel Sagastume begins his second season with Wheaton men's soccer for the 2022-23 academic year.

The Rhode Island native has been teaching the game of soccer for over 10 years, both as a coach and as an instructor.

Sagastume has been coaching soccer for Bayside FC since 2012 and has since served as a Head Coach for the program. He is involved with soccer for 12 months a year and in addition to coaching at Bayside FC he has helped to produce several high-level athletes at Total Development Training, an organization that he co-founded and serves as the Technical Director. He has tremendous experience in developing skills that go beyond the soccer pitch, helping to hone a player's physical, psychological, tactical and technical components. His passion for the game of soccer isn't limited to just the on-field piece, but also improving the community through the sport of soccer. Sagastume was involved with Project GOAL from 2012-18, where youth from undeserved areas were able to gain academic instruction in addition to improving their soccer skills.

Sagastume spent three years as the Head Coach for Saint Raphael Academy, where he guided the boys soccer team from 2018-20. He directed SRA to a 13-1-1 record and coached the squad to the Division III 2019 State Championship. He also saw the program ascend from Division III to Division I within the Rhode Island Interscholastic League.

Prior to his coaching career, Sagastume played soccer for Rhode Island College.

Sagastume serves as a Spanish Teacher at the Juanita Sanchez Educational Complex in addition to teaching Spanish in the Providence High School system to continue a career in education that began in 2012.
