Wheaton College (MA)

Jay Lanigan was named the 10th Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach in school annals in September of 2026 after serving as the program's Assistant Coach the prior season. 

The New Hampshire native made an impact for the Lyons in his first year on the coaching staff in 2026, helping to guide Wheaton to a 9-6 record, while establishing the program as one to watch within the New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference. Lanigan helped preside over an offense that saw four Lyons notch 45 or more points for the first time since 1996, while reducing their turnovers to a total that ranked Wheaton 33rd in the nation. Lanigan helped maintain a culture for the program that produced a pair of All-Conference selections – marking the first time since 2015 that multiple Lyons earned All-NEWMAC nods. 

Lanigan has earned the respect and confidence from his players in a short amount of time after fostering and honing his knowledge for the game as a standout student-athlete for Hood College lacrosse from 2019-2025. During his tenure with the Blazers, Lanigan’s integrity as a leader was rewarded as a three-time Captain. He still currently ranks among Hood’s top 10 in goals, assists and points as one of the top offensive players in school history. 

In addition to his time at Wheaton, Lanigan previously gained experience on the sideline as a coach for Team Maryland. He mentored middle school lacrosse players during his stint as a player for the Blazers. He also saw action with the Potomac Gaels of the National Collegiate Box Series and played Senior B Lacrosse in Canada.  

Lanigan graduated from Hood in 2025 with a degree in Law and Criminal Justice.
