Box Score GROVE CITY, Pa. - The Wheaton College (Mass.) women's water polo team was lifted by a pair of goals from first year
Claudia Gagné (Orlando, Fla.) but ultimately fell to Washington and Jefferson 15-8 on the campus of Grove City College on Saturday morning.
Wheaton falls to 0-10 on the season, while the Presidents improve to 5-3 on the year.
Gagné led the Lyons with two goals, while six other Lyons added goals in a show of roster depth. First year
Avary Guge (Winchester, Calif.) maintained her hot streak with a goal and three assists, while junior
Sophia Romo (Jupiter, Fla.) added a goal and an assist. First year goalkeeper
Anduena Kraja (Chicago, Ill.) had another strong day between the posts, making 15 saves, one steal and two assists. Sophomore

Ryanna Ritting (Perkasie, Pa.), senior
Issabel Babikova (South Portland, Maine) and sophomore
Fiona Swift (Red Hill, Pa.) were the other goal scorers for Wheaton.
Junior Hallie Ratcliff (Friendswood, Texas) led the Presidents with six goals, four steals and two assists. Her sister, sophomore Emmie Ratcliff (Friendswood, Texas), added three goals of her own as well as four assists and four steals. First year Riley Gutierrez (Deer Park, Texas) scored three times as well, taking six steals and one assist for a well-rounded day. First year Mackenzie Caron (Reading, Pa.) was the only other goalscorer for Washington and Jefferson, scoring three times with one assist and four steals as well. First year goalkeeper Lani Weaver (Conroe, Texas) was solid between the posts, making 11 saves in the contest
The Lyons were able to stay within reach of the Presidents in the first quarter, scoring two to the crimson-clad side's four. Wheaton repeated their offensive output in the second quarter, scoring twice. The Presidents were able to score three more goals, erasing Wheaton's effort to take a 7-4 lead into halftime.Â
Wheaton was outscored five to one in the third quarter, putting them behind the Presidents even further. They were able to post three goals in the fourth quarter, their most of the game, but the Presidents responded with three of their own. Washington and Jefferson took the win, 15-8.
Wheaton will resume action in Grove City, Pa. later today as they take on Penn State-Behrend at noon. The Presidents will wait a little while longer as they face Connecticut College in Grove City at 1:30 pm.
