Box Score GROVE CITY, Pa. — The Wheaton College (Mass.) women's water polo team fell to Macalester College, 17-5, this morning in a Collegiate Water Polo Association match at host Grove City College's James E. Longnecker Competition Pool in Grove City, Pa.
The Lyons slip to 0-8 overall and 0-8 in league play, while the Scots improve to 9-8 and 6-1.
Senior center Izabella Agraz (Moraga, Calif.) and first year center Ryanna Ritting (Perkasie, Pa.) each netted a pair of goals to lead Wheaton. Sophomore attacker Sophia Romo (Jupiter, Fla.) contributed with a goal as well.
First year utility player Mak Kratz (Northbook, Ill.) led all scorers with five markers for Macalester, while sophomore attacker Molly Lemmon (Evanston, Ill.) netted four goals. Senior center Brooke Geel (Meriden, Conn.) and junior attacker Alana Nadolski (Kentwood, Mich.) each scored a pair of goals.
The Scots scored the first four goals of the game over the first three-plus minutes, including two from Lemmon. Agraz cracked the scoring column for the Lyons with a marker coming with 4:43 left in the opening quarter.
Macalester netted the next nine goals to increase its lead to 13-1 with 1:45 showing in the second quarter, led by two goals from Nadolski and Kratz.
Wheaton ripped off three unanswered goals with Agraz, Romo and Ritting all finding the back of the net to pull the Lyons within 13-4 with 2:39 remaining in the third quarter.
The Scots countered with four straight markers, including a pair from Geel to make it 17-4 with 108 seconds left in the game.
Ritting netted the final score of the match for Wheaton for its fifth goal.
