ORLANDO, Fla. — The Wheaton College (Mass.) men's tennis team was defeated by University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, 6-1, this afternoon at Lake Cane Tennis Center in Orlando, Fla.

The Lyons dip to 1-4 on the season, while the Crusaders improve to 3-3.

Wheaton scored their only point of the dual match with a win at number one singles. Sophomore Jaime Galligo (Madrid, Spain) won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, over UMHB first year Marcus Diaz Torres (Leon Valley, Texas).

The Crusaders swept all three doubles matches to gain the first point of the match. Senior Nicolas Cusano (Autin, Texas) combined with first year Eli Sam (The Woodlands, Texas) for a 6-0 victory at number one doubles for UMHB over Galligo and sophomore Paul Berteaux (Courbevoie, France). The Lyon sophomore duo of Jake Murray (San Diego, Calif.) and Calvin Van Dyke (Albuquerque, N.M.) were defeated at second doubles by Torres and junior Fernando Andrade (San Antonio, Texas), 6-3. Wheaton senior Daniel Bor (Seattle, Wash.) and first year Pablo Munoz (Paris, France) fell short at number three doubles, 6-4, to the Crusader sophomore tandem of Sam Rahm (Belton, Texas) and Barret Scott (Liano, Texas).

Munoz took Andrade to three sets before succumbing at number three singles. Andrade breezed through the opening set, 6-0, before Munoz rebounded for a 6-3 decision in the second frame. Andrade took the final set, 6-4. Van Dyke also played to three sets, but also fell, losing to Cusano at number four singles. His UMHB counterpart won the opening frame, 7-6, before Van Dyke claimed the middle set, 6-3. Cusano cruised through the third set, 6-0.

Sam earned a 6-2, 6-4 victory for the Crusaders over Berteaux at second singles, while Murray was dispatched at fifth singles by UMHB sophomore Carter Celaya (Katy, Texas), 6-1, 6-2. Scott defeated Bor, 6-4, 6-0 at number six singles.
