The Lyons dip to 9-8 on the season and 4-4 in league play, while the Engineers, who are ranked in the most recent D3basketball.com national poll, win their seventh straight game and improve to 15-2 and 7-1.

Sophomore guard Dimetri Iafrate (Johnston, R.I.) gave the Lyons their only lead of the game with a layup to open the first half and give the home team a 2-0 lead at the 18:14 mark. The Engineers scored 11 of the next 12 points, including five from Callahan, to take an 11-3 advantage with 12:04 to play in the opening stanza.

Morrissey hit a jumper in the paint to keep Wheaton within 18-11 with 6:20 showing on the first half clock, before WPI put together a 19-8 stretch, fueled by a trio of triples from Reidy, to take a 37-19 cushion with 33 ticks remaining in the first half. Herry scored on a layup for the final points of the period to set the count at 37-21 at the intermission.

Junior guard Sal Pedevillano (Parsippany, N.J.) knocked down the Lyons' first three-ball of the night, after the hosts went the first half without a long-distance make, to cut the deficit to 40-24 with 17:25 left in the game.
