Ferrier Leads Men's Soccer Over Eastern Nazarene in Home Opener, 3-0

Norton, Mass. - Sophomore forward Alasdair Ferrier (Concord, N.H.) recorded the first multi-goal game of his career to lead the Wheaton College men's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over visiting Eastern Nazarene College this evening on Diane Nordin Field in Norton, Mass. The Lyons improve to 1-0-0, while the Lions dip to 0-1-0. 

The sophomore forward kicked off a strong offensive performance for Wheaton who ended the match with a 29-3 shot advantage over the visiting Lions. Junior forward Luke Strange (Portland, Ore.) scored his fourth career goal with a penalty kick to start off the second half. The Wheaton defense held the Eastern Nazarene offense to only two shots on goal in 90 minutes of play. Ferrier also padded the lead for the Lyons with an unassisted goal in the 58th minute of play for a 3-0 lead.

Senior keeper Cam Millington (Fairfield, Conn.) picked up his first win of the season and the fourth victory for his career, stopping two shots for Wheaton. Junior goalkeeper Erik Berg (Hadley, Mass.) made six saves on the night, picking up his first loss of the season. 

The Lyons return to action on Saturday, September 3rd when they travel to Salem, Mass. to take on Salem State University at 1:00 p.m., while the Lions take on Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts at 2:30 p.m. in North Adams, Mass.
