CLERMONT, Fla. -- Four different players drove in multiple runs to help the Wheaton College (Mass.) softball team to a 12-0 victory over Saint Norbert College this afternoon at Hancock Park in Clermont, Fla. as part of the Spring Games. The game was halted after five innings due to the eight-run mercy rule. The Lyons improve to 2-3 on the season, while the Green Knights fall to 0-5.

First year center fielder Juliette Zito (Woodbridge, Conn.) and senior Sarah Pritchard (Malta, N.Y.) each rapped out three hits to pace a 13-hit attack for Wheaton. Zito cracked a pair of doubles and knocked in three runs to go with a pair of runs scored, while Pritchard collected a double, drove in two runs and scored a run. Senior shortstop Katelyn Barton (Andover, N.H.) registered two RBI with a 1-4 effort and sophomore Katie Peirce (Acushnet, Mass.) came off the bench to drive in a pair of runs with a two-run single. Senior right-handed starting pitcher Emma Candelaria (Hampton Bays, N.Y.) hurled a two-hit complete game shutout to improve to 2-1 on the season, while striking out two and issuing a pair of walks in five innings.

Sophomore second base Lilly Haas (Winneconne, Wis.) paced the Saint Norbert offense, going 1-1 with a walk and senior first base Taylor Ullman (Denmark, Wis.) was 1-2. Senior starting pitcher Alexis Tingley (Green Bay, Wis.) (0-2) suffered the loss, giving up six runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks in three innings of work.

The Lyons' bats came alive early with four runs in the second and two more in the third before ending the game early with six more runs in the fifth. 

First year right fielder Jillian Rohon (Southington, Conn.) belted a leadoff double and scored on a single from sophomore third base Lindsey Oliveira (Westport, Mass.) to put Wheaton on the board at 1-0. Sophomore left fielder Allison Weston (West Islip, N.Y.) reached on an error and Zito came through with a two-run double to center field to give the Lyons a 3-0 lead, before Pritchard plated Zito with a two-out single through the left side to make it 4-0.

Wheaton received another double to begin the top of the third off the bat off first year second base Erica Piercey (North Branford, Conn.), who later scored on an error. Weston capped the scoring in the inning for the Lyons when she hit a bases loaded sacrifice fly to right field to bring home Rohon, who had walked earlier in the inning, with the sixth run.

Zito helped to key Wheaton's decisive fifth inning with another double to center field to bring home a run with the first of three straight run-scoring hits in the inning for the Lyons. Barton followed with a two-run single up the middle to put Wheaton over the eight-run margin with a 9-0 advantage and Pritchard made it a 10-run cushion with an RBI double to right center. Peirce capped the day's scoring with a two-run single.

The Lyons return to action on Wednesday, March 16 when they take on No. 18 Rowan University at Legends Way Ballfields in Clermont, Fla. at 11:45 a.m., while the Green Knights play Rutgers University-Camden.
