Game 1: WPI 11, Wheaton 3 (5 inn.)
Sarah Pritchard (Malta, NY) lasted just one-third of an inning for Wheaton, allowing six runs on six hits and a walk. Pritchard did contribute to Wheaton's three-run rally in the first, doubling to left center and scoring on a wild pitch. That inning also included an RBI single by Lindsay Whittles (Hopkinton, Mass.).
After falling behind 3-0, WPI scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back. Brittany Bolster (North Kingstown, RI) drove in three runs, including two on a home run to left field in the bottom of the fourth, which made it 10-3 Engineers.
WPI had 12 hits, including five doubles, two by Logrecco, who also scored twice. Jocelyn Diaz (Reedley, CA) and Kallie Case (Phoenix, AZ) each had two-run doubles in the victory.
They began the bottom of the first with six straight batters reaching base. Marissa Gonzales (Oakley, CA) stole home to start the scoring and Lauren Meinhold (Boxboro, MA) doubled in a run. Lindsay Ambrosino (Chelmsford, MA) and Bolster also picked up RBIs in the frame before Case doubled to right center to score two.
Diaz made it 8-0 when she doubled home Logrecco and Meinhold in the bottom of the second. Bolster made it 10-0 with her first homer of the year, and Logrecco scored Kaitlyn Hess (Milford, NH) for the second time on the day with her second double of the afternoon.
Meinhold earned the win for the Engineers, throwing four and a third scoreless innings. Meinhold allowed just three hits and struck out five without issuing a walk.
Game 2: WPI 10, Wheaton 1 (5 inn.)
For the second straight game, WPI had a six-run inning, scoring six in the bottom of the second after plating three runs in the first inning, two on a double by Logrecco down the right field line.
Wheaton got on the board in the fourth with three singles by Jill Ceddia (Hopkinton, Mass.), Lexi Lovell (Dighton, Mass.) and Rebekah Lajoie (Taunton, Mass.) with pinch runner Lilly Laganiere (Rochester, NH) crossing the plate.
Stephanie Bishop (Milford, NH) knocked home Logrecco with a double of her own, one of six extra-base hits by the Engineers in the second game of the day.
WPI tacked on six more runs in the bottom of the second. Meinhold had an RBI and scored in the frame, one of two Engineers to cross the plate when Logrecco doubled again, this time down the left field line. The Engineers also took advantage of two errors in the bottom of the second and three in the game, leading to five unearned runs.
Wheaton starter Rahne Turley (Sandwich, MA) was charged with the loss (0-1). She gave up one earned run in the first inning on four hits, with one strikeout.
Sophia Togneri (Hudson, MA) earned her first victory (1-0) with a complete game five-inning effort. She struck out five batters and allowed just one run.
