Box Score 2 Worcester, Mass. - May 1, 2021- In a double header against Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), Wheaton dropped two games by a score of 6-1, and in game two, 6-3. With the two losses the Lyons record drops to 4-6 overall and 3-5 in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).
Game One- Wheaton 1, WPI 6
WPI's Marissa Gonzales led the way in the leadoff spot going 2-4 with a run scored and a RBI. Junior, Katelyn Barton (Andover, NH) led the way for Wheaton's offense going 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Senior teammate, Julia McLintock (Swansea, MA) put the Lyons on the board in the 6th inning on an RBI single down the left field line.
WPI pulled away in the sixth inning plating the three runs, Gonzales led off the scoring with an RBI double plating one. Followed by a Nicole Logrecco infield single driving in the third run.
Game Two: Wheaton 3, WPI 6
WPI took an early lead in the first inning in Game two on a Lauren Meinhold sac fly to center scoring Gonzales.
Wheaton scored three runs in the top of the 6th inning on a double to deep right center from first year, Lindsey Oliveira (Westport, MA) scoring in Lilly Laganiere (Rochester, N.H.), Sarah Pritchard (Malta, N.Y.) and Barton.
Meinhold led the way for WPI going 1-2 with four runs batted in.
