MILTON, Mass. -- The Wheaton College (Mass.) women's basketball team saw four players score in double-digits in a balanced scoring effort in a 68-47 victory over host Curry College this evening at Katz Gymnasium in Milton, Mass. The Lyons improve to 2-3 on the season, while the Colonels fall to 2-3.

Wheaton shot 45.8% (27-59) from the floor, while holding Curry to just 23.2% (16-69). The Lyons also dominated the boards by a count of 57-36 with seven players pulling down five or more rebounds. The Colonels forced Wheaton into 27 turnovers, but were unable to take advantage.

First year guard Greta Minos (West Roxbury, Mass.) came off the bench to score 13 points, including a trio of three-pointers in 20 minutes, to lead a Lyons' bench effort that outscored Curry, 31-4. The rookie has scored at least 10 points in all five games to begin her career and added eight rebounds, three steals and an assist. Senior forward Sadie Shore (Portsmouth, N.H.) was very efficient in 19 minutes, going 5-6 from the field to score 10 points in addition to grabbing seven rebounds, handing out three assists, coming up with four steals and blocking a shot. First year forward Tianna Rogers (Danbury, Conn.) chipped in with 10 points on 5-7 shooting to go with five boards and a pair of blocks in just 12 minutes of action. First year guard Riley Sprague (Jamestown, R.I.) contributed with 10 points, three rebounds and two assists.

Junior guard Kaitlynn Smith (Hull, Mass.) led the Colonels with a game-high 18 points and added four rebounds and three steals. Junior forward Kristyanna Remillard (Abington, Mass.) netted nine points in addition to four rebounds and a steal.

Wheaton owned a 7-6 edge over its hosts with 6:24 to go in the opening quarter. It was the closest Curry would get for the entire game. The Lyons put the game out of reach early with 19 unanswered points over a stretch that saw the Colonels go scoreless for the remainder of the quarter and into the first 77 seconds of the second quarter. Rogers and first year guard Abby Fernandes (Assonet, Mass.) each scored six points to pace the Wheaton run and give it a 26-6 advantage with 8:43 left in the first half. A free throw from first year guard Kylie McCarthy (Beverly, Mass.) ended Curry's scoring drought at the 8:23 mark of the second quarter.

A lay-up from Remillard and a trifecta from senior guard Lily Gray (Brooksville, Maine) pulled the Colonels to within 29-14 with 6:02 remaining in the half. The Lyons later increased their lead after Minos canned a three-pointer to cap a 10-2 burst and give them a 39-16 lead at the four-minute mark. She drained another three-pointer, just over three minutes later, to give Wheaton its largest lead of the half at 46-20 with 50 ticks showing on the clock. The score remained the same at the intermission for the Lyons' biggest halftime margin of the season.

Wheaton maintained a 48-23 lead with 7:16 left in the third quarter, before putting together a 12-3 stretch, capped by another three-ball from Minos to give the Lyons their biggest lead of the night at 60-26 with 8:03 to go in the game. Curry came to life late in the fourth quarter with an 18-4 run, led by eight points from Smith, to cut the deficit to 64-44 with just over two minutes left in the contest.

Wheaton returns to action on Sunday, November 21 when it hosts Bard College at 1:00 p.m., while the Colonels host Salem State University on November 20 at 1:00 p.m.
