Box Score Cambridge, Mass. -- October 19, 2021 -- The Wheaton College women's volleyball team fell three sets to zero to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in a New England Women and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup on Tuesday night in Dupont Athletics Center.
The Lyons fall to 13-8 on the season (2-6, conference), while MIT improves to 21-1 on the season (8-0, conference). MIT dominated the first two sets by scores of 25-11 and 25-13 respectively. The Lyons turned it around and fell in a hard-fought third set, 25-20. Junior Bailey Madrzyk (Barrington, Ill.) led the Lyons with five kills, while senior Adara Hamilton (Mercer Island, Wash.) added four kills of her own. Junior Sophie Wilhelm (Saunderstown, R.I.) led the Lyons with 14 digs, and classmate, Hannah George (Duxbury, Mass.) recorded six digs and nine aces.
The Lyons return to action Saturday, October 23rd when they travel to Eastern Connecticut State to take on Plymouth State (2 pm) and Eastern Connecticut State (4 pm). MIT will head to Williams College on Friday to take on Tufts, Middlebury, and Williams over the weekend.
