DORCHESTER, Mass. -- Sophomore outside hitter Julianna Flack (Saint Petersburg, Fla.) matched her career high with nine kills to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) women's volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-19) victory over host University of Massachusetts Boston this evening at the Clark Athletic Center in Dorchester, Mass. The Lyons improve to 10-5 on the season, while the Beacons fall to 6-8.

Flack committed just one attack error and hit .500 for the match for the Lyons, while junior right side hitter Bailey Madrzyk (Barrington, Ill.) put down six kills to go with an ace, four digs and a block solo. Senior outside hitter Adara Hamilton (Mercer Island, Wash.) led Wheaton with 11 points, including five kills, five aces and a block to go with nine digs and sophomore setter Zoë Franz (Noblesville, Ind.) set for 15 assists and added an ace and seven digs. Junior defensive specialist Ariana Rajaee (Marlborough, Conn.) registered a team-high 10 digs.

Graduate student hitter Emilia Czapiewska (Saint Paul, Minn.) led all players with 12 kills on a .375 hitting clip for UMass Boston and added six digs and a block. Senior hitter Marcelle Tiscareno (El Paso, Texas) contributed with six kills and a block, while graduate student setter Carsen Komminsk (Worthington, Ohio) set for 22 assists to go with four digs and an ace. Sophomore libero Ally Dean (Portland, Ore.) got down for a match-high 15 digs.

The Lyons trailed early in the first set, 7-6, but reeled off seven straight points, fueled by a pair of aces from Hamilton to take a 13-7 lead. Wheaton never looked back and took the opening set. 

Wheaton held the Beacons to a paltry -.032 hitting mark in the second frame, while winning the set. The teams were tied at 13-13, but the Lyons went on an 11-2 run, paced by three aces from junior defensive specialist Sophie Wilhelm (Saunderstown, R.I.), to take a 24-15 lead before sophomore middle hitter Megan Kelleher (Wethersfield, Conn.) put down a kill to give Wheaton the set and a 2-0 match lead. 

The third set was much like the second with both teams tied near the midway point with an 11-11 score. The Lyons put together an 10-3 stretch to take a 21-14 advantage. Wheaton cruised from their for the victory.

The Lyons will be in action again tomorrow when they head to Framingham, Mass. to take on Framingham State University at 11:00 a.m. in tri-match action, while UMass Boston heads to Waltham, Mass. on October 5 to play Brandeis University at 7:00 p.m.
