Clermont, Fla.- Softball was held scoreless by Montclair St. who is now 6-0 on the young season and fell short to Washington and Jefferson as Katelyn Barton recorded 3 hits on the day.

GAME ONE: Wheaton 0 - Montclair St. 6

THE RUNDOWN:  

• Mady Bendanillo drew a walk to start the game but the Lyons grounded into a double play to end the first inning.
• The Lyons best opportunity to get on the board was in the 2nd inning after Sarah Pritchard singled and Tristan Keller walked to put on 2 base runners but the Red Hawk's Jillian Sims got out of the jam.
• The Red Hawks got on the board in the bottom of the 2nd inning with 2 RBI doubles.
• In the bottom of the 3rd inning Montclair St. extended their lead to 4-0 after they had 4 singles and the Lyons recorded an error.
• Kayla Gallo hit an RBI triple in the fifth inning and was later brought home on a single helping the Red Hawks earn a 6-0 victory over the Lyons.

THE BASICS:

• Pritchard led the Lyons offensively going 2-for-3.
• Sims record 8 strikeouts for the Red Hawks in 6.1 innings giving up only 3 hits.
• Barton also recorded a single for the Lyons.
• Gallo went 3-for-3 driving in 3 RBIs and scoring two runs for Montclair St.

GAME TWO: Wheaton 2 - Washington & Jefferson 4

RECORDS: Wheaton (2-4) - Washington & Jefferson (4-4)

LOCATION: Clermont, Fla.

THE RUNDOWN:  

• The Lyons took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning after Lilly Laganiere bunted her way onto first and then stole second. Hanna Arkin then singled up the middle to bring home Laganiere.
• Pritchard led off the bottom of the 4th inning with a double. Gabrielle Monfredo was brought in as a pinch-runner. After Julia McLintock singled, Monfredo scored on a wild pitch giving the Lyons a 2-0 lead.
• Washington & Jefferson scored 4 runs in the top of the 5th inning on 3 hits and 1 error by the Lyons.
• In the bottom of the 7th inning Wheaton had the winning run at the plate but was unable to convert with runners on first and second giving Washington & Jefferson a 4-2 victory.

THE BASICS:

• Lani Jackson-Sherman pitched 4.1 innings giving up 5 hits and 2 runs while striking out two.
• Barton went 2-for-3 on the day.
• Arkin went 1-for-4 with an RBI.
