GAME ONE: Wheaton 9 - Beloit 8 (9 innings)

THE RUNDOWN:  

• Senior Allison Cox got the start for the Lyons, striking out a career-high eight batters in 5.2 innings of work. The senior gave up seven runs on 11 hits, while also walking three. Jade Assad also pitched, taking the mound for 3.1 innings, giving up one run on one hit, while striking out two and walking one. 
• Wheaton found itself trailing 6-0 before plating two runs in the top of the third. The Buccaneers earned a run back in the bottom half of the inning, making it a 7-2 contest. 
• Wheaton then got to work, slowly chipping away at the deficit, starting with a three run fifth inning that saw Lily Ongkiko, Emily Schlapak, and Jessica Nardozza all cross the plate. 
• Schlapak doubled to center in the sixth, scoring Lindsay Whittles, pulling the Lyons within a run. 
• Allicyn Cole came around to score, tying the game at 7-7, on a Beloit wild pitch that walked Whittles. Wheaton held Beloit scoreless in their half of the inning, sending the game into extra inngs. 
• Both teams plated a run in the eighth, forcing another extra inning, which saw Cox come around to score on an RBI groundout by Cole.

• Shelbi Wilson got the start and the loss for the Lyons, pitching a complete game, which saw the senior face 39 batters. 
• Wheaton's lone run of the contest came in the fourth inning with an RBI single from Riley Benedetto that scored Hannah Arkin from third.
