Box Score BEVERLY, Mass. – The Wheaton College baseball team hit the road for a non-conference, make-up contest at Endicott College Thursday afternoon at North Field with the Gulls pulling out a 5-3 win.
Sophomore Tommy Larason collected the loss after starting the contest and completing 6.1 innings, giving up four runs on nine hits, while striking out one.
Wheaton took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning with a one out, two-RBI shot to left center by sophomore Tyler Walsh.
Endicott responded in the bottom half of the inning with two runs on a double from Corbin Hyde. Joseph Deutsch handed the Gulls the lead later in the inning with a successful sacrifice bunt.
Walsh tied the game sixth with another shot to left center that scored Jared Sharkey.
A solo home run by Ian Schmidt handed Endicott the lead back in the seventh, before a bases loaded walk to Steve Morganelli in the eighth made it a 5-3 contest.
Wheaton returns to the field on Saturday, April 29 at Babson for a best of three NEWMAC Tournament series. The first game of the double-header is set for 12 p.m.
