HARTFORD, Conn. - The Wheaton College women's swimming & diving team defeated Trinity College (Conn.) 201-86 and Wellesley College 165-133 before falling 221-67 against Connecticut College.
Wheaton's 200-yard medley relay 'A' team of senior Kelley Baylis, senior Jess Ryabin, junior Aleza Epstein and junior Jenna Hayden earned a second place finish of 1:53.67. Hayden went on to record a season-best time in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:00.27 while Baylis registered fourth at 1:01.91.
First-year Elizabeth Bernardy tallied third place and a personal-best time in the 100-yard breaststroke with a final of 1:10.74 as first-year Sophia Hatzikos notched third place in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:17.93.
In the 200-yard backstroke, Hayden clocked in at 2:13.17 for second place while first-year Erin Kean (2:36.06) and sophomore Rowan Rice (2:38.55) finished respectively in the 200-yard breaststroke. Later, Wheaton's 400-yard freestyle relay team of first-year Caitlin Daley, first-year Maggie Lawler, junior Aleza Epstein and Hayden tabbed fourth place when they timed in at 3:48.03.
First-year diver Maddy Morrison earned second place for the Lyons in the one-meter when she garnered a 263.61 final. Morrison went on to place third in the three-meter at 268.49.
Wheaton travels to the Cougar Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 4 hosted at Clark University beginning at 2 p.m.
