Springfield cruised ahead to an early lead in the first set, just to have it erased by a steady comeback by Wheaton. With the set tied at 22 all, first-year Nikita Selivan took charge, ending the match with a kill and back-to-back service aces.
In the second set, the Pride once again came out strong, running up a 6-2 lead. This time however, the Lyons were unable to do enough to take a lead, falling 25-20.
The third set proved to be a slugfest with the two sides tying the game 10 times and trading possession of the lead four times. It was Springfield this time that would do enough down the stretch to pull out the win, courtesy of a handful of Wheaton errors and a set closing kill by Kmetz.
Springfield took the lead early in the fourth set and never looked back.
