WALTHAM, Mass. - In an exciting turn of events, the Wheaton College men's soccer team demolished a three-goal deficit and defeated the Brandeis University Judges, 5-4, in overtime with the game-winning goal recorded by junior Louis Chavez Tuesday evening.

With the victory, the Lyons advance to 6-4-1 on the season while the Judges drop to 3-3-1.

Wheaton jumped on the board during the first half when junior Amara Sesay registered a goal to kick off what would quickly become a high scoring game. Brandeis would snag the momentum back when they tallied three unanswered goals before the half was over to settle into a 3-1 lead.

The Judges would record one more goal to start the second half and cushion their lead, but the Lyons would keep the game far from over as they went on a scoring spree of their own. It started with a deflected goal from Brandeis into their own net to push the score to 4-2, followed by Chavez notching his first goal of the game off a pass from first-year Chris Brubaker to put the Lyons within one.

It was Sesay later who dished out the goal that would send it to overtime when he snuck his shot in to concluded regulation for his sixth goal of the season. Chavez would go on to find Wheaton's big break off a deflected block from a Brandeis defender that he would send sailing into the net to clinch the 5-4 victory.

Junior goalkeeper Erik Wisniewski (5-1-0) earned the win for the Lyons, collecting three saves.

Wheaton competes again on Saturday as they host the Babson College Beavers in a conference game slated to start at 12 p.m.
