SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Wheaton College men's swimming & diving team continued their undefeated weekend when they topped host Springfield College, 182-116, and fellow competitor, Keene State College, 159-135 to earn the sweep as they wrapped up the weekend.
Wheaton opened the meet with a second place finish in the 200-yard medley relay thanks to sophomore Jacob Cost, senior Samuel Zarfos, junior Jonathan Dunnett and senior Jerard Fredette who timed in at 1:39.41. Cost went on to place second in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 54.29 and the 200-yard backstroke at 2:00.85 for season best marks.
Senior Ross Johnston dished out a second place performance in the 200-yard butterfly with a 2:04.47 final while Garneau (21.75) and junior Raymond Bortolot (22.65) earned second and third in the 50-yard freestyle with season best times.
Dunnett (54.71) and sophomore Kevin Silva (56.71) snagged second and third in the 100-yard butterfly to keep Wheaton's strong push as Johnston registered first place in the 200-yard individual medley.
Senior diver Ricky Davies grabbed first place in the three-meter with a 227.30 final while first-year diver Aaron Howe claimed first in the one-meter at 240.50.
The Lyons closed out the meet with a first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay at 1:27.86 with Fredette, Bortolot, senior Todd Lambert and Garneau.
Wheaton travels to the MIT Invitational next from Friday Dec. 2 to Sunday, Dec. 4.
