NORTON, Mass. - The Wheaton College women's swimming & diving team hosted the Hawks of Roger Williams University on Friday at Balfour Natatorium where the Hawks took the 157-140 victory.
Senior Claire Bollman earned first place for the Lyons and a personal-best time in the 1,000-yard freestyle to get them on the board after she clocked in a final time of 11:15.79. Senior Kelley Baylis claimed a season-best time in the 100-yard backstroke when she completed the race at 1:02.25 for second place. First-year Sophia Hatzikos also registered a season-best time when she competed in the 200-yard butterfly and finished at 2:17.73 for second place.
In the 50-yard freestyle, first-year Maggie Lawler (25.94) claimed a personal-best time for second place with sophomore Tayla Slater (25.96) on her heels in third with a season-best. First-year Caitlin Daley dished out a first place spot when she timed in at 56.05 in the 100-yard freestyle for the Lyons.
Wheaton went on to sweep the top three spots in the 200-yard breaststroke when first-year Erin Kean (2:32.62), sophomore Rowan Rice (2:33.95) and first-year Elizabeth Bernardy (2:36.16) earned season-best performances.
On the diving side, Wheaton went 1-2-3 in the one-meter as first-year Maddy Morrison (246.83), sophomore Katherine Conway (197.55) and junior Tori Popstein (173.55) showed their dominance. That carried into the three-meter as Morrison (246.23), Conway (220.73) and Popstein (165.75) closed out the meet with top three performances once again.
Wheaton travels to Springfield College on Saturday for their next competition in a trio matchup of Springfield and Keene State. Action begins at 1 p.m.
