NORTON, Mass. - The Wheaton College men's soccer team put up a tough battle in their match against the No. 8 ranked Brandeis University Judges on Tuesday, but came up short 2-1, at Keefe Field.

The Lyons (7-4, 1-1 NEWMAC) played a hard defensive game in the first half, blocking shots put on from the Judges (8-1).

Michael Williams and Noah Kossoff put forth shots of their own for Wheaton, but couldn't knock anything past goalkeeper Ben Woodhouse.

In the 31st minute, Brandeis utilized a rebound off the goal post to knock in their first goal of the game making it 1-0.

In the second half, the Lyons held possession of the ball more, putting up two more shorts. The Judges responded with a shot of their own in the 51st minute, knocking in the second goal, putting themselves up by two.

Wheaton fought until the very end as they finally caught a break 73 minutes in with a hard goal from Curran Wait that lessened the gap at 2-1.

This was the first goal Brandeis has given up in five games with only allowing four goals so far this season.

Wait put up one more shot on goal in the final minute of the game to try and tie it, but fell short.
