Double OT Victory Delivered from Waks

Box Score

BABSON PARK, Mass. – Pushing through double overtime, it was Adam Waks who knocked in the game winning goal for the Wheaton College men's soccer team as they defeated the Babson College Beavers, 2-1, on Saturday.

Wheaton adjusts to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) competition.

In the first half, the Beavers (5-4-1, 1-2 NEWMAC) were quick to get on the board six minutes into the game with a header goal.

Pat O'Rourke, Louis Chavez and Noah Kossoff put up shots for the Lyons, but couldn't break through.

It was in the second half when Chavez finally found the perfect opening to drill a goal in the net in the 53rd minute, tying the game 1-1. He was assisted by Kossoff.

Babson tried to regain control and take the lead again, but came up empty as Wheaton's defense went to work.

At the start of double overtime, Waks scored in the game winning goal two minutes in to snatch the Lyons victory over the Beavers.

Goalkeeper Matt Dickey (4-3) received the win as he tallied seven saves.

Wheaton hosts Trinity (Conn.) on Tuesday in a nonconference matchup scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at Keefe Field.
