BEVERLY, Mass.  – The Wheaton College baseball team extended its winning streak to six-straight games with a 10-3 non-conference victory over Endicott College on Thursday at North Field.

Wheaton freshman left-hander Michael Bruemmel (Bridgewater, Mass./Bridgewater-Raynham) went 7 1/3 innings, allowed ten hits, three runs (all earned), zero walks and struck out two batters to earn his third win of the season. Classmate Kyle Kasprzyk (East Falmouth, Mass./Falmouth) pitched 1 1/3 innings of shutout relief, while junior Mike Bisceglia (New Boston, N.H./Goffstown) record the final out of the game with a strike out swinging to end a first and second threat.

Endicott senior Tyler Hill (Las Vegas, Nev./New Hampton School) shouldered the loss on five innings, six hits, five runs (all earned) and one walk.

Lyons' junior first baseman Apolinar De La Cruz (Providence, R.I./Classical) launched his second home run of the season, fifth of his career, to right field to give the guests an early 1-0 lead in the second inning. Sophomore Brett Fontaine (Newburyport, Mass./Newburyport) extended the gap to 2-0 with a RBI single to left-center plating classmate Justin Silvestro (Waltham, Mass./BC High) from third. Silvestro set up the RBI opportunity with a double down the left field line before advancing to third on a ground out.

Freshman Mike Kochiss (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) cut into the deficit in the fourth with a run-producing double down the left field and senior Tad Gold (Martha's Vineyard, Mass./Martha's Vineyard Regional) evened the score by roping a RBI single to center in the fifth.

Wheaton answered in the sixth with four runs on five hits, zero errors and three runners left on base to take a commanding 6-2 advantage. Bisceglia worked a bases loaded walk, Silvestro knocked in a run with a single to center, senior Kevin Foley (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) drove in De La Cruz with a base hit through the left side of the infield and junior Zach Horton (North Attleboro, Mass./North Attleboro) lined a base hit to center to highlight the scoring.

De La Cruz also had a RBI single to left-center in the seventh and a two-run triple in a three-run ninth for the Lyons to fall a double shy of the cycle. De La Cruz finished the contest going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a game-high four RBI. Justin Peluso (North Reading, Mass./Saint John's Prep), Silvestro and Foley all collected multi-hit games in the win.

Wheaton (14-6-1, 4-2 NEWMAC) travels to Babson College tomorrow for a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup at 3:30 p.m. Endicott (11-4) visits Western New England University on Sunday, April 6 for a doubleheader with game one scheduled for 12 p.m.
