#18 Men's Soccer Stays Red-Hot In 2-0 Win Over Husson

Box Score

Blair, Sesay both score first half goals

BANGOR, Maine – The Wheaton College men's soccer team, ranked No. 18 overall in the latest D3soccer.com national poll, pushed its winning streak to four-straight games with a 2-0 non-conference win over Husson University on Sunday afternoon.

Senior forward Travis Blair (Hastings, N.Y./Hastings) and first-year forward Amara Sesay (Bronx, N.Y./Martin Luther King) found the back of the net just 2:12 apart in the first half, while the defense held Husson to only eight shots in the contest to help Wheaton improve to 14-2-1 overall.

Lyons' junior goalkeeper Matt Dickey (Newton, Mass./Northfield Mount Hermon School) stopped all four shots he faced on the day for his fourth clean sheet of the season. Eagles' senior goalkeeper Brian Potter (Waterville, Maine/Erksine Academy) made ten saves in the loss (8-7-0).

Blair broke open the shutout in the 36th minute with a hard shot from the top of the box that deflected off of a Husson defender and into the net for his team-leading 11th goal this season. Sesay scored in similar fashion at the 38:01 mark as his shot deflected off of a defender and over Potter's head into the goal for his fourth tally on the year.

Wheaton finished the game with a 26-8 advantage in shots and a 10-2 margin in corner kicks. Blair led all student-athletes in the contest with six shots (two on goal), while junior forward Phil Frost (Bangor, Maine/Bangor) paced Husson with four shots (one on goal).

Wheaton (14-2-1, 5-0-0 NEWMAC) travels to Coast Guard Academy on Saturday, October 25 for a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup at noon. Husson (8-7, 5-2 NAC) hosts Green Mountain College next Saturday for a league game at 3:30 p.m.
