Altneu, Enman Lift Wheaton Past Colby-Sawyer, 1-0

Box Score

Lyons push record to 13-5-0

NEW LONDON, N.H. – Wheaton College junior Ben Altneu's (Orleans, Mass./Nauset Regional) third goal of the season in the 25th minute held true as the Lyons went on to claim a 1-0 victory over Colby-Sawyer College in non-conference play on Tuesday evening.

Lyons' junior midfielder/forward Scott Enman (Brooklyn, N.Y./Packer Collegiate Institute) facilitated the lone tally of the contest flicking a pass with his heel to an open Altneu after gathering a loose ball off of a corner kick. Despite the Chargers' collapsing on the goal, Altneu sniped a shot into the left corner for second game-winning goal of the year.

Colby-Sawyer junior goalkeeper Nick Austin (Westerly, R.I./Westerly) made four stops in 51 minutes of action before being lifted after an injury. Freshman Beau Pingree (Northwood, N.H.Coe-Brown Northwood Academy) kept the Lyons off the scoreboard in the final 39 minutes with four saves down the stretch in his first-ever game.

Wheaton sophomore goalkeeper Matt Dickey (Newton, Mass./Northfield Mount Hermon) was tested just once in the contest and came up with the save to record his seventh clean sheet of the season.

The Lyons (13-5-0, 5-1-0 NEWMAC) travel to Clark University on Saturday, November 2 for their final game of the season and last New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup of the year at 2:30 p.m. Colby-Sawyer (8-7-2) visits to New England College on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. for a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) tournament quarterfinal match.
