Box Score 2 Matook leads Lyons with 15 kills
DANBURY, Conn. – The Wheaton College women's volleyball team split a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday evening at Feldman Arena against host Western Connecticut State University and Bridgewater State University. The Lyons lost to the host Colonials 19-25, 14-25, 21-25, and defeated the Bears 25-21, 25-20 and 25-17.
Sophomore Taylor Matook (Exeter, R.I./Exeter-West Greenwich) posted a team-high 15 kills, five digs and one block assist to highlight the Lyons' attack. Classmate Kendall Jacobs (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch) compiled 11 kills, two blocks and three digs, while sophomore Arieanne Creighton (Brookline, N.H./Hollis Brookline) also added 11 kills, one assist, three digs and two block solos.
Sophomore Sarah Alexander (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) contributed eight kills and one block solo and classmate Elise Waelder (San Diego, Calif./Point Loma) tallied five kills, three service aces, 17 digs and two block solos to aid the offense.
Setter Deirdre Wilson (Aptos, Calif./Aptos) registered 61 assists (10.1 per set), four kills, 17 digs and two block solos. Defensively, sophomore libero Robyn D'Agostino (Three Bridges, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional) had a team-high 21 digs, while junior defensive specialist Megan Donahue (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) notched ten digs.
Wheaton (14-11, 4-3 NEWMAC) returns to action on Tuesday, October 22 against Clark University in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup on the road at 7 p.m.
