SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - Wheaton College women's volleyball senior Kristen Hunt (Milford, Conn./Jonathan Law) became the program's all-time digs leader while helping lead the Lyons to a pair of wins on Saturday in finishing out the two-day Hall of Fame Tournament hosted by New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) schools Mount Holyoke and Smith colleges.

Playing both of today's matches in Mount Holyoke's Howard Gymnasium, Wheaton placed fifth out of eight teams in the silver bracket after downing Smith, 3-1 (15-25, 25-22, 26-24, 31-29) and the hosts, 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 26-24).  The Blue and White's lone setback was to eventual champion Bridgewater State University on Friday at Smith, as the Lyons lost 3-1 (19-25, 16-25, 25-12, 20-25).

Seeing its 11-match losing streak come to an end, Wheaton raised its overall record to 10-17.  At the conclusion of play today, Lyon junior Emily Davisson (Carpinteria, Calif./Laguna Blanca School) was named to the all-tournament team.

Entering the weekend's tourney in fourth place in Wheaton's annals with 1,839 digs, Hunt moved all the way into the top spot in under 24 hours.  Her 21 digs against Bridgewater State pushed her into second place and 24 behind leader Neva Metcalf '00.  After recording 20 versus Smith this morning, Hunt notched the tying and breaking digs during the opening set against Mount Holyoke.  Finishing with 13 versus the hosts, Hunt now has 1,893 career digs.

During Friday's loss to Bridgewater State, freshman Jackie Jones (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) led Wheaton hitters with 17 kills.  Hunt tallied 26 assists to complete her double-double performance, Davisson had 15 digs, and sophomore Rachel Vergara (Needham, Mass./Needham) posted seven.

During this morning's win over Smith, Jones led the way with 23 kills, while Vergara and senior Kaitlyn Stokes (Tewksbury, Mass./Tewksbury Memorial) registered 11 each.  Hunt again recorded a double-double with 37 assists to go alongside three service aces, and Vergara accounted for her first double-double of the weekend with 16 digs.

Davisson totaled a team-best 40 digs, which was one shy of her career best and tied for fifth highest all time, and 12 assists.  Sophomores Frances Trimble (Rapid City, S.D./Northfield Mount Hermon School) and Olanna Nissim (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) contributed 12 and 10 digs, respectively, while freshman Lindsay Tebbetts (Gilmanton, N.H./Gilford) tacked on four blocks.

Against Mount Holyoke, Vergara turned in 10 kills, Jones was credited with six, and sophomore Christina Cannon (Milford, N.H./Milford) had five.  Hunt's third double-double included 24 assists.  Davisson and Vergara recorded 19 and 11 digs, respectively, with Vergara adding three aces.

Entering its final week of the regular season, Wheaton entertains NEWMAC foe Babson College on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
