Harris, Tyrese Assistant Basketball Coach

Tyrese Harris

Tyrese Harris joined the Wheaton Men’s Basketball coaching staff prior to the 2026-2027 campaign.

Harris arrived in Norton after spending a season as the top assistant coach at Utica University. While an assistant at Utica, Harris helped guide the Pioneers to a 17-9 record, including a 10-6 record within conference play. Harris coached three players to the All-League team, and saw two eclipse the 1,000-point mark during his time at Utica.

While coaching at Utica, Harris also served as a mentor for local AAU programs. Under his leadership, Ascent (VT) and Mountain Valley Elite (NY) competed in several regional tournaments, including a playoff berth at the Gym Rat Challenge with a first year program in 2025.

Before arriving at Utica, Harris was a graduate assistant coach at Vermont State University Lyndon, his alma mater. As graduate assistant, Harris oversaw the development of Gregory Gonyea, VTSU Lyndon’s all-time leading scorer, and Wesley McIntyre, the 2025-2026 NCAA Division III scoring champion.

A four-year member of the VTSU Lyndon men’s basketball program, Harris served as a four-time team captain and appeared in 105 games - most all time in school history during the Division III era - with 56 starts. He finished his career with 507 points, 323 assists—the second most in program history during the Division III era—along with 365 rebounds and 97 steals. A strong performer on and off the court, he was a three-time North Atlantic Conference All-Academic selection.

Before college, Harris starred at Wiesbaden High School in Wiesbaden, Germany, where he was a multi-sport standout in basketball and soccer. He earned three All-Region, All-Europe, and All-European Tournament selections, averaging 12.4 points, 8.2 assists, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.6steals for his four year career. He led his team to a DODEA European Division I Championship Game appearance and two semifinal runs in basketball, while also reaching two semifinals in soccer and earning both First- and Second-Team All-Europe honors along with two All-Tournament selections. Harris also played for the Frankfurt Skyliners while in Germany, making appearances on several different developmental squads.

Harris graduated from Vermont State University Lyndon with a degree in Business Administration and minors in Sport Management and Marketing, and recently completed his Graduate Assistantship while studying Athletic Leadership for his Masters Degree.
