Maddie Castigliego

Maddie Castigliego joined the Wheaton Softball coaching staff in September of 2023.

The Rhode Island native comes to Norton after completing a career that saw her establish herself as one of the greatest pitchers in the history of the Simmons University program. Castigliego was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year in both of her final two campaigns with the Sharks and was a two-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region honoree, including a First Team selection in 2023. Castigliego burst onto the scene as a first year for Simmons, earning GNAC Rookie of the Year honors after pulling off the unique distinction of being named First Team All-Conference as a designated player and Second Team All-Conference as a pitcher in the same season.

The right-hander set the school record and was among the top five in the nation with 25 victories in 2022, while leading all of NCAA Division III with 34 complete games. She finished her career as the all-time wins leader for the Sharks with 64 and stands third with 416 lifetime strikeouts in addition to posting a 2.60 earned run average in 601 1/3 innings pitched over 104 appearances. Castigliego was outstanding with a bat in her hand as well, completing her time in Boston with a .310 (108-348) batting average to go with 89 runs batted in, 108 hits and 11 home runs.  The former two-year Captain was outstanding in the classroom as well, being named a Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete.

In addition to her exemplary playing career, Castigliego has also served as a Coach with Polar Crush Softball since 2020 and has gained experience in every aspect of the game. She was named the Head Coach for the 16U National Team in August of 2023 and prior to that was an Assistant Coach on the 16U National Team from 2021-2023 and the 14U National Team from 2020-2021.

Castigliego graduated from Simmons in 2023 with a degree in Exercise Science.
