Lindsey Keen was named the sixth Head Coach in the program’s history since the 1980-81 season. She takes over the helm of the longest-running collegiate artistic swim program in the nation – established in 1941.
The West Coast native has been a member of the artistic swimming coaching circuit for the past 14 years. Most recently, Keen has been a Head Coach within the Pacific Waves Synchro program in Washington State, where she has experienced tremendous success at the international, national and regional levels. Under Keen’s guidance, her swimmers have combined to capture four medals at the Pan American Games, three at the United States National Championships and three at the Junior Olympic Championships.
Pacific Waves has thrived under Keen’s watch, maintaining a number two regional ranking for three straight years. The program has experienced a number of firsts under Keen’s direction, including its first-ever medal at West Zones with a silver medallion in 2023. She oversaw the program’s National Team Training Program in 2022 that produced the program’s first athlete selected to compete for the Junior National Team in 2023.
Keen’s ability to masterfully interpret the new scoring system within the artistic swimming scene has enabled her athletes to excel at the upper levels of competition. In addition, Keen provides a hands-on approach that includes composing original choreography and developing effective music to align artistic elements to maximize the skill level of her athletes. Her training regiments, in conjunction with the cultivation of a culture of high performance, have been instrumental in the program’s ability to prosper at the international and national arenas.
Prior to her tenure at Pacific Waves Synchro, Keen spent time at Santa Clara Artistic Swimming in California following three years at Los Angeles Synchro.
Keen enjoyed a competitive career that saw her earn a spot on the U.S. Youth National Team, where she took part in multiple international and national titles. Her career was curtailed due to injury, but her love for the sport fueled her desire to continue her journey on the coaching side as a mentor for future high-level athletes.
Keen is a 2014 graduate of California State University Channel Islands, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business.
