Casey becomes the third Head Coach for the baseball program in school history.
The Azusa Pacific University graduate has spent the past 13 seasons in the collegiate coaching ranks, including the last four with conference foe Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Following his first campaign in Worcester, Casey began to put his stamp on the program and led the Engineers to a seven-win improvement in 2024, while nearly doubling the program’s conference win count from the year before. He guided WPI to a 20-17-1 record and the Engineers’ first appearance in the New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference Championship Tournament since 2019. Four players earned All-Conference nods under his watch that season, including an All-America performer.
Prior to his time at WPI, Casey enjoyed six highly successful seasons as an Assistant Coach with Tufts University, helping the Jumbos post a 155-66 (.700) record, including 49-18 (.731) in New England Small College Athletic Conference play. The Jumbos captured NESCAC crowns in 2016, 2017 and 2019 while also advancing to the NCAA Championship Tournament, culminating in the regional finals in 2016, 2019 and 2021. Since his arrival in Medford in 2016, Casey was involved in all aspects of the Tufts baseball program, from recruiting, hitting, pitching and positional work as well as fundraising, alumni relations and community service. For his outstanding efforts, he was promoted to Associate Head Coach in 2021-22.
Casey began his coaching career as an assistant for two seasons at his alma mater APU. During his time as an assistant coach, the Cougars averaged 32 victories and qualified for the postseason in both years. Casey is a 2013 graduate of Azusa Pacific, majoring in Physical Education where he was a Captain during his four years with the Cougars. He was instrumental in helping APU capture the conference championship in 2012 and advancing to the NAIA playoffs.
