Wheaton College (MA)

Alexandria Sylvia joined Wheaton in June of 2026 as the ninth Head Coach in program history.

The former Stonehill College standout comes to Wheaton with eight years of coaching experience and was most recently the Head Coach for Oliver Ames High School in nearby Easton. 

Sylvia led the Tigers to a 40-30-7 record over a four-year stint that saw her teams post double-digit victories in three different campaigns and advance to the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Tournament every year. Sylvia helped to produce 12 All-Conference honorees and has watched 10 former student-athletes move on to play in the college ranks. Under her direction, Oliver Ames boasted top-three finishes within their Davenport division in every season in the Hockomock League, including a runner-up showing. Sylvia’s teams earned top-20 placement within Division II of the MIAA rankings in all four of her seasons in Easton. The Tigers advanced to the Second Round of the MIAA Tournament in both 2022 and 2023 and earned No. 14 rankings in the State following each season. 

In addition to her time at Oliver Ames, Sylvia she has coached some of the best players in New England within the Nexus Olympic Development Pathway Program as well as the New England Stars Field Hockey Club, which are both under the USA Field Hockey umbrella as premier youth development programs. 

The former Brockton High School Boxer is well-known on the club circuit, having coached for Extreme Field Hockey and Bay State Field Hockey, while also serving as a mentor on the Southeast Field Hockey Team at the Bay State Games. 

Prior to her ascent as the Head Coach at Oliver Ames, Sylvia honed her coaching skills as the Junior Varsity Coach for Brockton High School and earned her start leading the Milton High School Freshman squad to a near undefeated campaign in 2018.

Sylvia’s desire for coaching was fostered from an outstanding career with the Skyhawks at Stonehill that saw her play in every game and help the Skyhawks earn four NCAA Tournament berths. The three-year starter helped Stonehill capture back-to-back Northeast 10 Conference crowns following a tremendous first year that saw her earn NE-10 All-Rookie Team status. Sylvia capped her career by ranking second in the NE-10 and seventh nationally in assists and ranks among the school’s career leaders in both goals and points. 

Sylvia graduated with a degree in Biochemistry from Stonehill and served as a Chemistry teacher at Oliver Ames in addition to her coaching duties.
