There are two types of Athletics Endowments: Programmatic and Coaching. To ensure the ongoing success of all Wheaton sports, the College seeks new endowment funds for varsity athletics and club sports. While annual gifts to athletics bolster year-to-year program needs, endowment funds are crucial for the program's long-term support.
Programmatic Endowments
Programmatic endowment serves the department and individual teams well, in that it tends to be broad-based and designated to the highest program priority. A gift of $100,000 or more will establish an athletics endowment for programmatic support, which could be used for postseason, invitational, or international team travel, equipment purchases, recruiting expenses, and general team support. The donor may designate a particular sport or team as recipient of the funds.
Coaching Endowments
A gift of $500,000 will endow a head coaching position that, like an endowed academic chair, pays tribute to an outstanding teacher-coach. An endowment gift of $250,000 will provide similar support for an assistant coaching position.
Wheaton's coaches are dedicated teachers and mentors who support their students' achievements in the classroom as well as in competition. In doing so, they contribute meaningfully to Wheaton's holistic educational mission and assist in preparing our graduates for lives of leadership and service.
We are thankful for our alumni, parents, and friends who support Wheaton Athletics.
