Wheaton's Athletics Friends Groups (AFG) raise money to support the highest priorities of our coaches. Currently, there is 16 varsity Athletics Friends Groups.
The Department of Athletics and our coaches rely on the financial support of their Athletics Friends Group for the continued and future success of our programs.
The mission of AFGs and the LAC is to secure philanthropic and volunteer support that enables coaches to recruit and develop some of the finest scholar-athletes in the world, and to provide them with the best possible overall experience.
Friends Groups play a vital role in maintaining the excellence of Wheaton Athletics. Annual donations to the Lyons Athletic Club via Athletics Friends Groups can be used immediately by the program to which they are directed. All gifts are fully tax-deductible.
The following are some of the important items that the Athletics Friends Groups support:
- Travel: training trips and international trips
- Recruiting travel: out of region travel for coaches
- Specialized technology and equipment: software, video, and editing
- Team banquets and awards
- Professional development including conventions and clinics
- Events for alumni and friends
- Athletics Friends Group communications
