Audette Named NEWMAC Field Hockey Offensive Athlete of the Week

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – Wheaton College (Mass.) field hockey player Ava Audette (Essex Junction, Vt.) was named the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference Field Hockey Offensive Athlete of the Week for the week of September 1-7, it was announced today by the league.

The sophomore tallied seven points with three goals and an assist in two matches for the Lyons. Audette began the week by assisting on a goal in a 3-0 win at Worcester State University on September 2. The forward capped the week with her first collegiate goal and added two more for her first career hat trick in a 5-0 victory over visiting Nichols College on September 6. 

For the season, the Essex High School product has played in all three contests for Wheaton, while making one start. She has seven points on the year and currently ranks fourth in the NEWMAC with three goals, while standing seventh in points. 

The Nursing major, missed time due to injury last season, but seen action in six career matches for the Lyons.

Wheaton is currently 2-1 on the season and will be in action again on Tuesday, September 9 when it hosts University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Nordin Field at 7:00 p.m.
