Box Score Norton, Mass. -- October 19, 2021 -- Behind three points from junior Paige Forrester (Glencoe, Ill.), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology field hockey team defeated Wheaton College, 4-0 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Tuesday night at Diane Nordin Field.
In the loss, Wheaton fell to 7-8 and 3-3 in conference play while MIT improved to 11-4 and 6-1 in the NEWMAC. With the two goals and one assist, Forrester is up to 23 goals and 57 points on the season, both of which lead the NEWMAC. MIT goals also came from senior Lucy Kitch-Peck (Bethlehem, PA.), and junior Erica Radler (Wayne, NJ.).
Forrester got on the board unassisted at the 9:33 mark, and Kitch-Peck did the same at 18:44. Forrester later assisted Radler at 28:14, then junior Liberty Ladd (Falmouth, Maine) assisted Forrester for her second goal of the night late in the game at the 49:40 mark.
For the Lyons, senior Lindsay Janeczek (Glastonbury, Conn.) had two shots with one on goal, and sophomore Emma Lapreziosa (Bowdoinham, Maine) had five saves in the cage. Senior Kiely Sigma-McManus (Etna, NH) saw no action in goal while the MIT defense kept the Lyons quiet.
Wheaton will return to action Saturday October 23rd to celebrate Senior Day as they take on WPI in a NEWMAC contest which is set to begin at 12pm.
