Box Score NORTON, Mass. -The Wheaton College field hockey team defeated the Lasell College Lasers, 4-0, on Tuesday night at Nordin Field to remain undefeated on the season.
The Lyons improve to 5-0 overall for the first time since the start of the 1991 season. The Lasers slip to 1-3 overall. Sophomore goalkeeper Riley Thompson picked up her second shutout of the season, while improving her overall record to 5-0. First-year keeper Emily Curran also saw time in net, making one save.
Wheaton outshot its opponent 16-7, with 10 of those shots coming from sophomore Katie Peters. The Lyons also held a very small, 12-11, advantage in penalty corners. Cailin Flannery led the Lasers in shots with four.
Peters netted the Lyons first goal of the contest in the 15th minute after cleaning up a rebound in the box. Kelsey Buckley scored the first of her two goals just four minutes later with a feed from Kelsey Harris.
Buckley and Peters connected for the Lyons next goal, with Peters playing the ball in for Buckley who found the back of the net in the 52nd minute. Peters capped off the scoring two minutes later with her second goal of the night.
The Lyons return to the field on Saturday, Sept. 19 at Wellesley for the start of NEWMAC play. The match is set to begin at 12 p.m. Live stats and video will be provided.
